An exceptional evening of Gypsy Music
Claudio Della Corte & Fred Léger
Concert Sold Out!
This concert is proposed in aid of the Music School of Blauzac - associated from the start with Jazz à Blauzac by their active participation to the Blauzac Big Band.
The Guta family left Romania at the beginning of 2000 and settled in France. Taught from a very young age by his father Silvain, the young Paul did not hesitate to play many different types of music from traditional Balkans music to the great standards, and obviously Gypsy Jazz. This opened doors to him where he had the honour to share the stage with Angelo Debarre, Tchavolo Schmitt or the trio Stochelo Rosenberg, worthy heirs of Django Reinhardt. This ace of the "gipsy violin" learnt to play gypsy jazz ’on the job’, in the company of the musicians of Montpellier that formed the Hot Club de Montpellier. Many of you will remember his presence on the stage with this group at our first festival in 2012 where he played alongside Claudio Della Corte. The night owls amongst the spectators will also remember the jam that he initiated on the Place de l’Eglise until 2am while we tidied and cleared the stage for the night around them.
Paul is accompanied by:
Claudio Della Corte, a self-taught Napolitain guitarist, always a jazzman, who came late to Gypsy Jazz. Already once on the stage in Blauzac, Claudio has played alongside some of the greats of the Italian stage such as the guitarist Vittorio Silvestri with whom he toured Italy and Europe. He settled in France in 1998 and has appeared on stage as the first part to famous gypsy guitarists such as Biréli Lagrène or Stochelo Rosenberg. During his numerous concerts he has also crossed guitars with Tchavolo Schmitt and Angelo Debarre. Only the best!
Frédéric Léger on the double bass: Fred is a young double bass player trained by Jams, then at the Conservatoire of Montpellier and Marseille. He is in several groups: Atipa quartet, premier laureate of the jazz festival Mirondel’art 2006 and finalist of the Jazz Trampoline of Jazz à Vienne 2008, the Quintet for Miles (hommage to the second quintet of Miles Davis), the Freemind Quintet directed by Abdu Salim, and Coko with whom he participated to the Francophonie games in 2009 in Lebanaon.
