Halfway between a fanfare and jazz de chambre, Back To Bix (B2B to friends) pays hommage to the traditional jazz of New Orleans and Chicago. The quintet from Montpellier finds its inspiration with the masters of traditional or 'old style' jazz : Bix Beiderbecke, of course, but also King Oliver, Louis Armstrong, Jimmie Noone, Duke Ellington, and others.
Back To Bix interprets jazz standards of a century ago in their own fashion with several original arrangements, while giving priority to collective improvisation and polyphonic arrangements in the "Early Jazz" style, with syncopated rhythms and even at times swaying beats.
Vocals, cornet, clarinet, saxophone, trombone, banjo, tuba, and sometimes tap shoes, are the instruments that make up this little orchestra, that shares a passion for traditional jazz with freshness and good humour.
Audrey Leclair: cornet and vocals
David Tavani: clarinet and tenor saxophone
Julien Vézilier: trombone and vocal
Laure Colson: banjo and vocals
Olivier Bour: tuba
Security: A mask will be required in the queue and inside the village hall. A 'pass sanitaire' is obligatory. The number of spectators will be reduced a little. Hand sanitiser will be available. Please look at our web site after the 10th Nov. for any latest update to the rules.
